Mole & Vole Lawn Treatment in Massachusetts

Ridged Lawns, Dirt Mounds, and Chewed-Up Flowerbeds? You Probably Have Moles or Voles.

Moles tunnel just below the surface, raising ridges and mounds that damage turf and root systems. Voles use those same tunnel systems and surface runways to feed on roots, bulbs, and plant material. Because both animals live and feed underground, trapping one or two rarely solves the problem. The effective long-term answer is to make your lawn a place they no longer want to feed — so they leave on their own and stay out.

Harvey's Animal Evictions is licensed in Massachusetts for mole and vole control, and our treatment program follows the product manufacturer's directions exactly.

How Our Treatment Works

We apply a professional granular repellent whose active ingredient is castor oil, a plant-based oil with a long record of effectiveness against burrowing pests. The granules are time-released and water-activated. Once watered in, the castor oil seeps into the soil and coats the animals' natural food sources — insects, grubs, and earthworms — making them taste unpleasant and causing digestive discomfort when eaten.

The treatment does NOT kill moles or voles. It drives them off your property humanely, and with continued service they learn to stay away. It is biodegradable and, when used as directed, safe around children, pets, plants, lawns, gardens, and flowerbeds.

Our Staged Treatment Program

Moles and voles have to be pushed out the way they came in — not scattered across your yard. Our initial program is done in stages:

Day 1 — Protect. We treat the areas of your lawn that haven't been invaded yet, so the animals start moving toward their exit point.

Day 2 — Push out. We treat the invaded areas, working toward the property boundary, including direct treatment inside active runways.

Day 12 — Reinforce. The entire affected area is re-treated.

Day 30 — Perimeter barrier. A treated band along the exit boundary discourages the animals from coming back.

Activity may shift or briefly increase in the first few days — that's the animals being driven out. Reduced activity is typically seen within about a week, and protection builds with each application.

Ongoing Maintenance — Your Choice of Schedule

Repellent protection fades over time, so the manufacturer recommends reapplication every 2 to 3 months — and sooner after heavy rain or whenever new mounds appear. When you sign up, you choose the schedule that fits your property: every 2 months or every 3 months.

This is an ongoing service with no term contract — applications continue on your chosen schedule until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time.

Pricing

Initial treatment program (Days 1–30): $400.00 — covers up to 8,000 sq. ft. (about a quarter acre). Larger lawns: add $75–$100 per additional area of the same size.

Maintenance applications: $150.00 per visit — every 2 months or every 3 months, your choice.

Mole & Vole Problems on Larger Properties

Golf courses, athletic fields, cemeteries, and HOA common areas suffer some of the worst mole and vole damage. Ask us about ongoing management programs for large properties.
